Muffle Furnace

Muffle Furnace

A muffle furnace is a high-temperature heating device used to process materials inside an isolated, insulated chamber that's completely sealed off from flame, fuel exhaust, and external contaminants. This isolation ("muffling") ensures test samples are heated purely by radiant/convective heat, free of ash or combustion by-products, making it essential wherever contamination-free, precisely controlled heating is required.

Depending on the temperature range, the chamber is built from ceramic fiber board or ceramic blanket insulation, while the outer body is constructed from corrosion-resistant, powder-coated mild steel for durability and safety.

Muffle Furnace Manufacturer

iLabot Technologies is a muffle furnace manufacturer and supplier based in Delhi, India, with over 25 years of experience building cost-effective, precision laboratory furnaces for government institutes, private labs, and industrial clients across India and export markets.

Building a reliable high-temperature unit takes engineering precision — our experienced team manufactures muffle furnaces from 900°C up to 1500°C, matched exactly to customer specifications. Every unit is rugged in construction: a powder-coated mild steel outer body paired with a high-quality ceramic fiber board inner chamber, fitted with imported thermocouples (K, R, or B type depending on temperature range).

Each muffle furnace is supplied with standard accessories — steel tongs, heat-resistant gloves, and crucibles — with optional upgrades available at extra cost, including a programmable controller, RS232 computer interface, and GMP-compliant SS 304 construction. Every unit is tested against quality parameters before dispatch, securely wooden-crated, and we offer on-site installation, commissioning, and operator training.

900°C - 1300°C Muffle Furnace

Applications of Muffle Furnace

Our muffle furnaces are used across research and industrial settings for:

Ashing tests - determining ash/moisture content in materials like wool, rubber, fiber, and fabric etc.
Heat treatment - annealing, hardening, and tempering of metal gears and components.
Sintering - ceramics, powdered metals, and glass firing Material & thermal analysis - research applications in chemistry, metallurgy, and material science.
Pharmaceutical testing - check loss-on-ignition and sample preparation.
Educational & research laboratories - determine general-purpose high-temperature heating.

How to Operate a Muffle Furnace

Once fully installed, a muffle furnace is easy to operate. Safe operation steps are as follows:
1. Unlock and open the furnace door.
2. Place the test sample inside the chamber using tongs.
3. Close and secure the furnace door.
4. Switch on the unit and set the desired temperature using the digital controller.
5. Monitor temperature rise until the set point is reached and held.
6. Once the process is complete, allow the chamber to cool before opening.
7. Carefully remove the test sample using heat-resistant gloves and tongs.

Muffle Furnace FAQs

What is a muffle furnace used for?

A muffle furnace is used for high-temperature applications like ashing tests, heat treatment, sintering, annealing, and material analysis — anywhere a sample needs uniform heating in a contamination-free chamber.

What is the price of a muffle furnace in India?

Muffle furnace prices in India typically start around ₹25,000 and vary based on chamber size, maximum temperature, and controller type (manual vs. programmable PID).

What temperature can a muffle furnace reach?

Standard laboratory muffle furnaces operate between 900°C and 1500°C; higher-end models can go up to 1800°C depending on the heating element used (Kanthal, silicon carbide, or MoSi2).

What is the difference between a muffle furnace and a regular oven?

A muffle furnace reaches far higher temperatures (up to 1500°C+) and isolates the sample from combustion by-products, unlike a standard lab oven which typically operates below 300°C.
